Somewhere around 1992 I was driving from Springfield, MO to Independence, KS.   Independence is my home town and I was living there at the time.   It was a frustrating time for me.  I was a self-employed financial planner.   I had been living on commissions for several years and it was not new to me to not know from one month to the next how much income I would have.   At this particular time, my finances were very tight.

As I was driving along I was talking out loud to the Lord.  Complaining really.  I was reminding Him of his promise to open the windows of Heaven and pour out blessings to those who tithed.   I was telling Him, as if He didn't know, that my cash flow was tight.  Finally, in frustration, I said, "You've got major problems going on in the world, starving children, wars, drugs .... you don't have time for this".

I heard a voice in my mind say, "You don't understand Tom.   It's difficult for you to carry on a conversation with more than two people at a time.  I am present in every Christian.   I give each one undivided attention.   I can do this because I am God.   I hear every word, every thought.   I am interested in everything about you.  Do you remember the other day when you were working with that couple who had a perplexing question?  Do you remember the idea that came to your mind?   Something you had never read or heard before?   The idea that solved the problem and earned you $2,000 in commissions?  That was me opening the windows of Heaven and pouring out blessings on you".

Wow!  What an eye opener.  Life changing.
