This is, by far, not the complete list of verses from the Bible that contain the word must.  It is but a sampling.  You can do a search of your own.  These are verses to be pondered in light of where you are today.


The word must has many levels of meaning.  Here are some of them:


1) it is necessary, there is need of, it behooves, is right and proper.


a) necessity lying in the nature of the case.


b) necessity brought on by circumstances or by the conduct of others toward us.


c) necessity in reference to what is required to attain some end.


d) a necessity of law and command, of duty, equity.


e) necessity established by the counsel and decree of God, especially by that purpose of his which relates to the salvation of men by the intervention of Christ and which is disclosed in the Old Testament prophecies.


Matthew 16:24

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.


Mark 9:35

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."


Mark 13:10

And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.


John 3:7

You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You [The Greek is plural] must be born again.'


John 4:24

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."


John 12:26

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.


John 13:34

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.


John 15:4

Romans 12:9

[ Love ] Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.


Romans 13:1

[ Submission to the Authorities ] Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.


1 Corinthians 4:2

Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.


1 Corinthians 5:11

But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.


1 Corinthians 14:26

[ Orderly Worship ] What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.


2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.


Colossians 3:8

But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.


Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.


Hebrews 13:17

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.


James 1:6

But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.


1 Peter 3:10

For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.


1 Peter 3:11

He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.


2 Peter 1:20

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.


1 John 2:6

Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
